Monolithic yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal restorations have been produced to eradicate the risk of veneering porcelain chipping. However, their translucency was not sufficient for use in the esthetic zone. Therefore, cubic zirconia has been introduced with improved optical properties. Rapid sintering procedures, which can be carried out in minutes, render the production of zirconia restorations possible in one visit and enhance its clinical use. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of conventional sintering protocol, speed sintering protocol, and super-speed sintering protocol on the color and translucency of cubic zirconia.<br/>For this in vitro study, cubic zirconia (DD CubeX²®) and tetragonal zirconia (DD Bio ZX²) blanks were CAD/CAM milled to cylinders. The diameter of the cylinder was adjusted to be 15 mm to allow for the approximately 23 % shrinkage during sintering, so that the final diameter would be 12 mm. Cylinders of both materials were cut with a diamond cutting saw into discs with larger thickness dimension (1.2 mm) to compensate for the approximately 23% shrinkage of the material during sintering, so as the final thickness would be 1 mm thickness. Discs were then dried under a heating lamp to be ready for sintering.<br/>In this study, 60 zirconia discs were used, the first group consisted of 30 cubic zirconia discs and the second group consisted of 30 tetragonal zirconia discs. Each group was subdivided into three subgroups, where 10 discs were per subgroup. The first subgroup was subjected to conventional sintering protocol according to the manufacturer's instructions, the second subgroup was subjected to speed sintering protocol also according to the manufacturer's instructions, and the third subgroup was subjected to super-speed sintering protocol. After sintering, discs were checked for their final dimensions with a digital caliper. <br/>Then the translucency of each subgroup was evaluated by measuring contrast ratio and translucency parameter. For color evaluation, the conventional sintering protocol was taken as a control, where the amount of color change between conventionally sintered cubic zirconia and speed sintered and super speed sintered cubic zirconia was calculated. Also, the amount of color change between conventionally sintered tetragonal zirconia and speed sintered and super speed sintered tetragonal zirconia was calculated. <br/>The results of this study revealed that for cubic and tetragonal zirconia, conventional sintering protocol provided the highest translucency values. Also, speed sintered discs showed an acceptable color change compared to conventionally sintered discs, while color change between super-speed sintered discs and conventionally sintered discs was unacceptable.تهدف هذه الرسالة الي اختبار و مقارنة تأثير بروتوكولات التلبيد المختلفة على مظهر اللون وشفافية الزركونيا المكعبة (كيوبيك).<br/>في هذه الدراسة المخبرية، تم تقطيع بلانك الزيركونيا المكعبة و ايضا بلانك الزيركونيا الرباعية بواسطة جهاز الكاد كام الي اسطوانات بقطر ١٥مم و ذلك للسماح بانكماش قدره ٢٣٪ اثناء التلبيد، بحيث يكون القطر النهائي ١٢مم. <br/>تم تقطيع هذه الاسطوانات بمنشار المياه المبرد بمحلول الماء الي اقراص بسمك ١.٢ مم و ذلك للسماح بانكماش قدره ٢٣٪ اثناء التلبيد، بحيث يكون السمك النهائي ١ مم. <br/>تم تجفيف الأقراص تحت لمبة التدفئة الخاصة لتكون جاهزة للتلبيد.<br/>تم تقسيم مجموعة اقراص الزيركونيا المكعبة و ايضا مجموعة اقراص الزيركونيا الرباعية الي ثلاث مجموعات فرعية، المجموعة الفرعية الاولي تعرضت لبروتوكول التلبيد التقليدي حسب تعلمات المصنع، المجموعة الفرعية الثانية تعرضت لبروتكول التلبيد السريع حسب تعليمات المصنع، و المجموعة الفرعية الثالثة تعرضت لبروتوكول التلبيد فائق السرعة. تم تقسيمم الاقراص بحيث يكون عدد الاقراص في المجموعة الفرعية الواحدة ١٠ اقراص.<br/>بعد اتمام عملية التلبيد، تم التاكد من سمك و قطر الاقراص و ذلك باستخدام الة فكية رقمية.<br/>تم قياس اللون و الشفافية لكل مجموعة فرعية بجهاز ﺍﻟﻤﻄﻴﺎﻑ ﺍﻟﻀﻮﺋﻲ. تم قياس الشفافية باستخدام وسيلتين، الاولي هي نسبة التباين و الثانية هي معامل الشفافية. تم قياس فرق اللون و ذلك باخذ بروتكول التلبيد التقليدي كعنصر تحكم، حيث تم قياس فرق اللون بين بروتكول التلبيد التقليدي و بين البروتوكولات الاخري و ذلك للزيركونيا المكعبة و الرباعية. <br/> <br/>وقد تم تحليل النتائج احصائياً واستخلص ما يلي:<br/>• أظهرت بروتوكولات التلبيد المختلفة تأثيرًا كبيرًا على لون وشفافة الزركونيا المكعبة و الرباعية.<br/>• تسبب بروتوكول فائق السرعة في تغيير لون ملحوظ وغير مقبول لكل من الزركونيا المكعبة والرباعية.<br/>• أثر كل من بروتوكول التلبيد السريع و بروتوكول التلبيد فائق السرعة تاثيرا سلبيا على شفافية الزركونيا المكعبة و الرباعية. |
