Future University in Egypt, Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, 2022; Includes bibliographical references N2 - The present study was conducted on 4 patients (2 males and 2 females) suffering from severe atrophy in mandibular vertical height (Luhr class III), with a total of 12 implants. Two patients underwent general anesthesia, and the other two surgeries were done under local anesthesia. A surgical plan was done using the pre-operative CBCT and the implants were placed accordingly, with implant threads exposed 3 mm crestally. Then they received either autogenous bone grafts (to be included in group 1) or xenograft (to be included in group 2), along with the laminar bone sheets in order to augment the ridge vertically and place the implants simultaneously. The patients were followed up for a period of 4 months; at the first week, two weeks and then on monthly basis after the surgery. he follow up period went uneventfully CBCT was done pre-operatively, immediate post-operatively, and 4 months post-operatively. RFA was measured 4 months post-operatively and the results tabulated. All implants were osseointegrated according to the RFA readings, a mean ISQ of 67.67 and 67.98 in the xenograft and the autogenous bone graft group was recorded respectively. A mean bone gain of 4 mm and 6 mm in the xenograft and the autogenous bone graft group has been achieved respectively. It is recommended that studies of longer follow-up periods and larger sample sizes be done ER -
