| 520 | 3 | _aThe aim of this study was to evaluate influence of orthodontist’s gender and experience on the perception of dentoskeletal parameters. Methods Six cases for evaluation were included in this study. The selected cases were categorized into 3 groups each contains two cephalometric radiographs. Group 1: included records of 2 patients with Class I dentoskeletal relation one with vertical and the other with horizontal growth patterns. Group 2: included records of 2 patients with Class II dentoskeletal relation one with deficient mandible and the other with excess maxilla.Group 3: included records of 2 patients with Class III dentoskeletal relation one with deficient maxilla and the other with excess mandible. The selected records in each group were included variable case criteria regarding skeletal and dental parameter radiographs. All 6 lateral cephalometric radiographs were stored in computer database and imported to the Audex Ceph soft wear. The variables used in this study were commonly used cephalometric variables for orthodontic diagnosis, treatment planning and evaluation of treatment results. Steiner’s, Wit’s, Tweed’s, McNamara, Rakosi, Jarabaks analysis is commonly used for orthognathic surgical planning, hard tissue, dental variables, and soft tissue variables. Digital tracings and measurements were performed by single orthodontist four time and the mean of four time for etch radiograph considered as golden standard for that case. The electronic survey was developed using Survey Monkey®. The survey was consisted of two sections. Section one was included demographic data related to the participant orthodontists including years of experience, gender, place of education (Appendix I). The second section was included patients' records (six cases) to be evaluated (Appendix II). Etch case were asked about 8 items: skeletal class, growth pattern, upper incisor inclination, lower incisor inclination, maxillary position, mandibular position, nasolabial angle, facial profile. Each clinician was required to answer appendix I and the go to appendix II. Then the results were sent to me through Email and then collected together and sent to made Statistical analysis. Conclusion: Orthodontists with more than 10 years of experience showed higher prevalence of correct eye ball tracing more than the less experienced groups. No association was found between the clinician’s gender and influence of dento skeletal parameters. | |
