Abstract: Cancer is a serious health problem and is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Piperidine is an essential pharmacophore and a favoured scaffold in the field of drug design. Piperidine nucleus exhibited great potential in chemotherapy. Previous studies have reported the antiproliferative effect of piperidine moiety against different cancer cell lines. Piperidine was found to be able to cause tubulin inhibition and induce apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in various types of cancer cells. In this thesis four different series of piperidine derivatives inspired by Curcumin were designed, synthesised, and tested in vivo and in vitro for their antitumor effect.
